Guest guest
Diane, I got shingles a few years ago. I totally understand about the pain you're in. Luckily, mine finally quieted down. I read somewhere that neurontin is sometimes given for that type of pain. Maybe you could ask your doc about that? Not sure what other meds you take and it might not be a good match for you but it's worth a shot. I hope you feel improved soon. It's hard enough dealing with the PF w/o having to deal with other stuff too. Nan 49, MASS list started in '82 PF '08 Asthma '09 > > Hello to everyone in the group-including more newbies! I have been one of those lurkers for a while now-going thru more problems as well. I probably have missed a lot but I am glad (old news) Bruce's move went well. Sorry to hear about you Beth and hope you are feeling better soon. Slow going day to day more now for me. Hospice has finally been better with me-you just have to know how to play their games to get what you need.I was impressed by MB's letter she wrote about when she was diagnosed and such-she hits the nail right on the head for so many of us. On top of everything I did come down with the shingles going on six weeks ago now. Very painful and still is.They are trying to desensitize my skin with Benadryl cream because I have hyper-sensitive skin now. Hospice said if this doesn't help it is possible I will have to live with this pain!!! I can't even wear a shirt on my skin even after 6 weeks! I wouldn't wish this on anyone. I get into a position and can't move with all the pain going on and now I believe I have lost more strength and lung capacity from just sitting around. I have tried everything- my family doc will not give out Lidocaine cream however and hospice feels this would help. I am really pulling my hair out at this point. It is hard to stay calm and hang in there with all this pain. > I hope everyone is as well as can be expected. I will try to post once in a while-not too good at sitting with the computer still. Have a good holiday weekend. I look forward to my sister coming on Sunday to plant some flowers for me to cheer me up! Thank God for the family that DOES get it! > God bless you all.... > > Diane 51 NY PF,PM,RAYNAUDS,SJORGRENS 2006 PH 2008 >
Guest guest
Dianne what an awful time you've been having. Shingles is one of those illnesses that everyone dreads with good reason. Your Doctor sounds really heartless..what's the chance of having a consult with someone the Hospice could recommend to get that Ligocaine script. Thanks for posting to us...I really appreciate the effort you've made with so much pain going on for you. I'm pleased to hear that your Hospice support has improved. That must give you a good feeling that you persevered with them & got trhough in the end to get the care you need. Cyberspace Hugs don't hurt so here's a HUGE one coming through.... in Oz >> Hello to everyone in the group-including more newbies!
