Thanks, Sidney ---------Since you are 6 months post amalgam removal, it is ok for you to try just ALA. Some people do just fine with it alone, and some need to chelate with DMSA or DMPS first for awhile, or some feel better with DMSA + ALA or DMPS+ALA, so you will have to do some experimenting. But it is fine for you to try ALA by itself, and yes 12.5mg would be a good dose to try, and yes take it every 3 hours. You may have to make some adjustments based on symptoms, and this just takes some trial and error at first. If symptoms are too bad, then you may need to lower your dose, and some people feel better with even more frequent dosing, like every 2 or 2-1/2 hours.
