Guest guest
A few years ago I started reading The Maker's Diet. I got as far as the chapter where he gives modern justification for the biblical prohibition against pork as a food source. I found his arguments compelling and I haven't been able to eat pork since. I stopped reading the book because I didn't want to find myself giving up any other foods, more or less against my will. Since many of the glandular-type supplements are derived from pigs, I haven't used them. But it's hard to find bovine-only sources. So I'm mostly still just using vegetarian products for digestion and adrenal support. And not having any remarkable success, especially with the adrenal support. Then I ran across the argument that pigs are routinely used in testing as substitutes for people since their make-up is so similar. I don't know if that was on this forum or elsewhere. But I've been wondering about that... we wouldn't eat humans, but we do use human blood and organs... so is the argument valid? Is an animal you wouldn't eat a suitable source for non-food products? In a similar vein, aren't a lot of the products we use medicinally items that we would not use for ordinary food sources? What do other people think? I mean besides the obvious that I'm nuts. This is a real problem for me. Once I'm mentally convinced that a thing is unhealthy to eat, I become physically ill if I try to eat it, or find out that I inadvertently have. My family has stopped trying to " just not tell me " . But there is a post in the forum discussing Armour and Jewish dietary laws, and it says that a rabbi said if you swallowed it encapsulated, it wasn't eating. So, if the Jews can differentiate between food and non-food... ?? I did find one bovine-source Raw Adrenal-the whole gland, not ACE-but that gave me extreme nausea (my tests indicate I probably over-produce adrenalin). I'm currently using a ginseng herb blend that's been discontinued. It gives me just enough improvement to convince me I need adrenal support, but not enough to actually feel any better. I can only have one cup of licorice tea a day because of the impact on my blood pressure. So I'm really out of ideas on how to support my adrenals without going to glandular products. This is not something I can discuss with my family, since they already think I'm nuts. And not without cause. But I'm hoping that maybe other people here will have something to say. Either arguments for or against, bovine sources, higher quality vegetarian sources... anything. Anything.
