No. It is 3 hours for ALA and you can stretch it to 4 hours at night while you are asleep. > three days on four off. That is fine. Good luck! Too high of a dose of any chelator will give you problems.-----------Jackie I have waited 3 months and am about to have a go with ALA. I have purchase 50mg tablets and was thinking of cutting them into quarters - ie 12.5 mg. Does this sound OK, and will I be able to use it every four hours? -----------12.5mg should be a reasonable dose to start with, but do remember, some people have found that they have to go even lower. And the dosing for ALA is every *three* hours, not four. Some people find that they can get away with every four hours at night, but not everyone, and you still need to do every 3 hours during the day. And some people find they do better with even *more frequent* dosing, and do every 2 or 2-1/2 hours, and feel better that way. So I'm sorry to say, that in the beginning, it just takes some experimenting to find out what the right dosage and timing is for you. But I would suggest you start out at your 12.5mg of ALA every 3 hours, and go/adjust from there. If you feel it wearing off before your next dose, then that's a sign that you need more frequent dosing, and it's ok to take your dose a little sooner during the same round, like going from every 3 hours to every 2-1/2. If the dose, 12.5mg, feels too strong, then you need to stop the round, and try a lower dose on the next round. And I would also suggest you do some reading in the Files and Links section, especially TK's general recommendations for chelation, and possibly Moria's website and the ANDY INDEX, to make sure you understand the protocol, and the difference in timing with ALA, etc. Good luck------------Jackie three days on four off.
