Guest guest
Why does Andy say in the book to use rounds of DMSA before ALA immediately after getting the fillings removed (or a couple days after, that is)? What's the purpose? I just finished the book, and I remember he said the purpose of the DMSA is to lessen the side effects of the ALA. But if it's within the first 3 months after getting fillings removed, and you're not using ALA yet, then why does he recommend DMSA at that time? If you haven't done so yet, it would be worthwhile to spend some time reading the ANDY INDEX and at onibasu/wiki, where alot of things get more clarification from Andy. DMSA's only purpose is not just to make ALA more tolerable. It will help your body excrete more mercury from extracellular spaces and help you to reduce your body burden, and this can be especially useful right after amalgam removal. And this can help prepare you for using ALA. And I have seen great variation in people's tolerance of ALA. Some tolerate it fine and do better on it alone, so waiting to use it after 3 months works for them, and others, like myself, still can't tolerate it after years of chelation with DMSA or DMPS. So how people react to amalgam removal and the different chelators varies greatly. For some, the DMSA helps with the symptoms they have right after removal. Some of us evidentally have very high body burdens or very poor natural excretion of mercury, and it takes us a long time before we can tolerate and use ALA. So DMSA has its place, and is more necessary for some of us than others. But what Andy was saying is that the ultimate thing that is going to get you well and get the mercury out of your brain is ALA. So if you tolerate it by itself, then it is all you'll need to use. But if you don't, then the other chelators can be very helpful. And DMSA is also good at removing lead, so for some people, it is necessary for that. Hope this helps.------Jackie
