Guest guest
...that is a coincidence....when you speak again please tell Terri I inquired about her. Hope you and Dakota remain well and happy. Well your wife too of course. Rich and I were thinking (just a little bit) about going to Sun City AZ. Rich has relatives there and we thought about maybe getting to meet a few members along the way but we haven't made much in the way of a decision. By the time we drag my cpap and concentrator and portable I get an "Oh hell with it attitude". I know this may spur Bruce especially to say, 'get out there', but remember guys, we're in our 70s and travel does get harder. I'm waiting now to see when my appt will be in place at UofWMC in Seattle. Should be Aug or Sept. They have rec'd all records now and just waiting for Dr Raghu's A/S schedule to open up. MamaSher; 70, IPF 3-06, OR. NasturtiumsDon't fret about tomorrow, God is already there! Hi Sher I'ts funny you asked about Terri P. I just talked to her yesterday, she had a knee replacement and thinking about getting the other one done. She has been really busy and tired and hasn't had time to deal with all the Emails generated by the group because she can't sit down in front of the computer for very long. I explained the Digest format that is available to us and told her I really liked it better than all the individual Emails, because I have trouble sitting in front of the computer also. She is missing the group and is planning on posting again in a couple weeks and switching to the Digest format. Right now she has company from out of town, so I told her if I don't see her post--I will be calling her and bugging her about it..
Guest guest
Sher, Is Medicare going to pay for you to go to the UW? I want to go too but I want to try to get moved over there first. As soon as the snow is gone I plan on putting my house up for sale. What is an A/S schedule? Bev Hi Sher I'ts funny you asked about Terri P. Guest guest
Sorry to hear you have been so sick. I did notice that you hadn't been posting and I mentioned it to my wife, but we have had my son, DIL, and 2 grandkids (2 & 5 yrs. old), with us for the last 12 days and I haven't been on the computer other that 10 minutes, 3 different days. My butt is dragging trying to be involved in the activities and I do feel very tired all the time----only three more days and they will be going back to Olympia, Wa. My last visit to the Dr. (April 6th) I did my PFTs and everything is exactly the same except for my DLCO---it has dropped from 55% down to 49%. In the last 10 months it has dropped from 68% to 49%, so needless to say it is starting to make me nervous. What has been going on with you? You have usually been the "rock" of the group? Hope everything is OK and we can contribute it to the weather? I did hear you talking about going to the U of W medical hospital for an evaluation? I just talked to my Dr about checking at the U of W for a transplant evaluation, so I may go there also, but I don't know when. Tell Rich hi and hopefully I will be making the trip up to Washington again and I can meet up with you guys again. Hope you get better and back to posting!!!!!!!!! G. Guest guest
.... omgosh I'd be hiding in the closet with little ones in the house that long. ;o) That does seem like a larger drop than what we want. But you keep yourself in such good shape and about now may be when it starts paying a benefit! I'm still waiting for my appt with Dr. Raghu at UWMC. Wouldn't that be something to 'match-up' there? I am feeling better than bad so that's good. I'm still weird so that's no so good. hehee MamaSher; 70, IPF 3-06, OR. NasturtiumsDon't fret about tomorrow, God is already there! Guest guest
I guess that you missed my post about my house. I don't have it on the market yet because first my niece wanted it but she can't get a lone for at least six months and I can't wait that long. Now my son-in-law knows someone who wants investment property and a place to stay when they go to Silverwood theme park. My house should fit that. I haven't heard anything from my daughter yet. I will wait until next week. Then if she doesn't call me I will call her. I can't wait much longer to put it on the market. I can't do a garage sale. I just don't have the strength. I will have to move everything. Then my daughter said that she will have a sale for me. I don't have any help. I am worried. I am just so very tired all of the time. My sister thinks that they are killing me with the meds and oxygen. She can't seem to get it that I have to have the oxygen. Maybe the Prednisone is doing it. All the pulmo dude has put me on is prednisone and NAC. Do any of you know what can be making me so tired. I have an appointment with the pulmo doc in 2 weeks. I am afraid that I am progressing already. I went to my sister's to have her do my hair and then I went to the store to get meds and a few groceries. I came home tired and a little bit breathless. Guest guest
My kids will come from the coast to make the actual move for me but I don't have the energy to unclutter my house or do much packing. I hire someone to help with the housework every other week but I don't have a lot of money. When the weeds start growing I will hire someone to mow the lawn. I am on O2 24/7. I am not feeling so tired today. My sister just has no concept of what this disease does. She even thinks that I shouldn't be on oxygen. None of my relatives here know what is really going on. That is why I need to move back around my children. They seem to understand more and they want to help me. My daughter is the only one who could come here and help me before the move but she has 2 little girls ages 3 and 6. The 6 year old is in school. She is planning on coming after school is out. She said that I can move in with her but those girls would drive me crazy and I would have to take over one of their rooms. I just want to sell and get an apartment. I'm not worried about the escapees anymore. I never was very much but I haven't seen the neighbor or her son since the police were here. Thank you for your suggestions. I need to call my daughter and see what is going on with the people they said might want the house. I need to get it on the market soon if they don't want it. Guest guest
Beverly I see Dr.Raghu also!! I asked him what the lung transplant will be like..his reply "It'll be like a walk in the park for me." I thought hmmm...thats good I guess, I was really wondering about myself but his answer was good LOL As far as being tired and family not understanding I understand. My family can't seem to understand why I am not working in my yard or cleaning the house more. They think I should socialize more, visit others, go window shopping, they want me to just get up get out and do more then everything will be fine. I am tired of explaining to them and handing them literature. I decided to try to make peace with myself about how I feel, accept my down days , grasp my good days, and let my family struggle with their worries rather than me trying to make them happy. I like you have had to hire occaisional home help, she does the floors, the bathroom, sometimes laundry and linen. I don't have the energy aqnd hate the fumes from cleaning products. Because my husband only has the one arm we also have to hire help with our yard. We have been thinking about selling andd moving to an apartment....seems like it would be so much simpler. sending you hugs Theresa>> My kids will come from the coast to make the actual move for me but I don't have the energy to unclutter my house or do much packing. Guest guest
Do you think your sister worries too much because she doesn't have enough information or does she try to understand the info. she has? I think we force family to think of their mortality as well as our own. I agree about having your own place as long as you possibly manage to do it. There are agencies where you can get help once you are out here. We live in subsidized housing and it's quite nice. Looks better than some of the "regular" complexes. You could contact them if that is your need too and get your application in. Even if you aren't quite ready, a waiting period can sometimes last a year or more. It will come together when the time is right BJ. First things first... MamaSher; 70, IPF 3-06, OR. NasturtiumsDon't fret about tomorrow, God is already there! Hi Sher Sorry to hear you have been so sick. G. Guest guest
Theresa.... sounds to me too like it would be easier to rent an apartment and leave the tough work to maintenience or management. We reached the place where we sold our house too. That was about 5 years ago and we've not regretted it one moment. Let someone else do the worrying about house-stuff and insurance and upkeep. Later..... MamaSher; 70, IPF 3-06, OR. NasturtiumsDon't fret about tomorrow, God is already there! Hi Sher> > > Sorry to hear you have been so sick. Guest guest
Even though I'm only 49, I too live in subsidized housing. My place is all elderly and disabled. I no longer need to worry about shoveling snow or raking leaves. There's switches built into the walls that if I have a breathing emergency, I can use to call for help. One of the last times I was hospitalized, a social worker came and asked me if I needed help at home with light cleaning and such. Now, I have a girl that comes in once a week and sweeps and washes all the floors, does laundry, strips the bed and makes it, etc. She's a Godsend!! She's paid by a rehab agency that works with disabled people. It might be worth checking in your area for similar services. > > Do you think your sister worries too much because she doesn't have enough information or does she try to understand the info. she has? > I think we force family to think of their mortality as well as our own. > I agree about having your own place as long as you possibly manage to do it. Guest guest
Sher, My sister is in denial. All of my relatives here including nieces and nephews are within a few years of my age so maybe I am making them think of their mortality. I have asked my daughter to check into subsidized housing for me. Maybe I could get in and until my house sells. I told my daughter I was moving in with her if it didn't sell before winter. I knew that she didn't want me soon. She said that I could stay in their motorhome but it isn't very comfortable. Her bed is terrible. I told her that I would bring my own mattress. LOL BJ (Beverley) Hi Sher Sorry to hear you have been so sick.
