Nursery Provision

I remember there being a thread on this a while ago so thought I'd relate

what's happened with Mari's nursery place (she will be 4 during the

forthcoming school year so is entitled to a free place).

She will be attending a Welsh Language School so we want her to attend a

Welsh Language Nursery. The LA WL Nursery is full! Pupil Support told me of

two other private WL nurseries near me that they would fund - they are full!

Early Years Development Officer told me of a further 2 which are day care

rather than nursery - I have now managed to get her a place in the day care

nursery but it will mean her going two full days rather than 5 AMs or PMs,

this in theory will mean that we have to 'top up' the funding but I'll fight

that one when we come to it :)

The situation in our area is pretty dire, there is a high demand for Welsh

Medium Education and the provision just doesn't seem to be keeping up with

it. On the positive side the people I spoke to at the LA were really

helpful and understood my situation (i.e. no transport, Babi due September,

please don't make me walk 8 miles a day!!) and didn't make me take the place

that was 2 miles away altho by regulations they could have :)
