Fwiw, I took just ONE after some stress at work found my hands shaking and 2 hours later, I couldn't keep my eyes open. I don't know if this means my adrenals work well already or what, but thought I'd offer you both examples so you could see what a wide variation there is in people. My research said similar, 2- 3 caps 3 times a day, but i see no reference to mg. If I have to take that much I will have to change brands because it's very expensive stuff. Anyway...i will ramp up slowly and see what happens. I am taking my temperature daily so that is a very good road map of what's happening. I have already managed to stabilise my temps with liquorice & salt. I am no longer cold all the time, which is nice. My graph is much much less jagged than it was due to these things, so hopefully ACE will continue helping where these herbs & salt have. Also taking a little kelp for the iodine and maca powder too, both of which help and I can actually feel the difference with these things. To find out about this stuff I read the following book : " adrenal fatigue: The 21st century stress syndrome " by DR . I thought this a great book. Maybe I will have to take HC, but before I do I want to try these things first, and so far so good. (Thorne Research brand Adrenal Cortex Extract 50mg, 60 capsules per bottle, right?) I have purchased it online from Naturamart for $8.37 a bottle, same price at Total Health Discount Vitamins, and it is $9.30 at Illnessisoptional. I didn't consider it expensive, although if we get up to those maximum dosages, it will start to add up. I just know in the past, it was the brand that Andy has recommended, so I have no idea how others differ. I was doing some price surfing on the net last night, and checked out the Nutricology one that mentioned and found it at Iherb. They had two, 300mg - 75 caps for $9.60 and 250mg - 100 caps for $13.62. So, if this brand is good and is actually 5-6 times stronger than the Thorne, then it is a much better deal. Guest guest
Thanks so much . I just haven't had time to read over at A-M for a long time, so I really appreciate you spending time with us also! I know in the past Andy has recommended Thorne, but its good to hear that the Nutricology brand has been discussed on A-M and is being used with good results. I like the fact that it is organic also, and much cheaper! I will use up my Thorne ACE, and then switch. One thought I had is maybe its good to start with Thorne (50mg), because of the smaller dose, to see how its tolerated? Then once you build up your dose, then switch to Nutricology (250 or 300mg), for a higher single dose and less expensive. Maybe you wouldn't have had such a reaction to a smaller dose. I did see 100 caps of 250mg and 75 caps of 300mg, both from Nutricology. Do you know if there is any preference or any difference in these? The price per mg is cheaper with the 300mg/75 caps, at least at iherb. Either way, it's much cheaper than Thorne, per mg. And just to clarify, Andy recommended 1 cap/ 3Xday, for the Nutricology ACE? Guest guest
Jackie, I believe the 300 mg, 75 caps is the whole adrenal glandular, which I don't think Andy recommends, only the Adrenal Cortex or Adrenal Cortex Extract. For the little ones, Andy recommends using 1-3, 250 mg, Nutricology ACE, from what I remember. I do know of one Mom with a 40 lb child who was using up to 6 of these per day. I don't think my reaction to them is typical, and I'm not dealing with mercury poisoning. Hope this helps, Re: Re: Adrenal Cortex Extract Thanks so much . Guest guest
Yes, the whole adrenal is not to be used and I think that is what the 350 mg is, if that makes sense. Only Adrenal Cortex or Adrenal Cortex Extract is to be used, not the whole gland. Enzymatic Therapy includes the spleen, kidney and brain, I think, which is not bad but maybe a little creepy :-). It was very late last night when I was looking at these, and didn't even catch the difference. The 300mg-75caps IS called Adrenal Organic Glandular, and the ingredients say Adrenal Tissue. Guest guest
Our experiences: I use Adrenal Cortex by Allergy Research. It goes for $13 for 100 capsules. It has I think 250mg. I use it for myself and 12yr, and 5 yr mercury toxic children/adult. It has alleviated adrenal symptoms in all three of us. It is safer than hydrocortisone as you don't need a doc to monitor you. I was told my Andy to use this for my children rather than HC because HC should be monitored if used, especially in children. Also, a good option for those of us who don't have a doctor that believes in adrenal fatigue. Start at one cap in the am. See how it goes. If you don't feel anything after a few days, add a second capsule around lunch time or early afternoon. (Before 4pm). Slowly build up until you find a dose that controls your adrenal symptoms and makes you feel better. For some this is one cap, some it's four, some it's 6..this will depend on your level of adrenal fatigue. Does it help? You bet! I no longer have panic attacks or require SSR's for them. My 12 yr old does not have panic/anxiety either. 5yr has no tantrums or meltdowns, much calmer and happier. > > I've never heard of this stuff. Is it safe? What can I expect it to > do? Does it help? No way to know except by trying it. > > -- > When you say react badly to it, what does that mean? What kinds of bad reactions would someone have? What would they feel? I am sure I need adrenal extract support but I have had bad reactions to licorice, no help from ginsengs or other adrenal herbs, so I am just a little gunshy and wondering what a bad reaction to adrenal cortex would be. Guest guest
Thanks for the report on you and your kids. This sounds great! How long have you guys been taking the Adrenal Cortex by Allergy Research (Nuticology)? And you don't take anything else specifically for adrenals, just this?-------Jackie In frequent-dose-chelation Jada wrote: Our experiences: I use Adrenal Cortex by Allergy Research. We should ask if it's been discussed on the A-M group.---------Jackie Sunshine: I paid about £16 for Thorne research ACE. That's for 60 caps. If I take 6 per day that lasts me 10 days! I am on about 20 supplements at the moment and it all adds up. £16 = $32 of your American dollars! Maybe I will have to buy from the USA and get them shipped over? > > Anyway...i will ramp up slowly and see what happens. I am taking my > temperature daily so that is a very good road map of what's > happening. > > ------------Good for you. I foolishly haven't done this. Keep us posted on what happens with your temps.---------Jackie Sunshine: The temp graph is excellent. I have marked on mine when I added each supplement and how each day was for me, good, bad or ugly. Been about 7 weeks now I been doing the graph and I have seen my temps go from wildly jagged and low….to…..much more stable and higher than it was, although not high enough by far. Also two weeks ago I had a real bad round of DMSA and my temp dropped like a stone. But the next day it went right back up to the range that it had been in. I bounced back better than I had in the past, which means the actions I am taking are working a bit. All in all a very good guide for me to see whats happening. I am seeing a specialist in the new year, so this keeps me interested and very well motivated. Seeing is believing. In fact if you want to see my graph I posted it on another forum: http://herballure.com/ubbthreads/showflat.php? Made by Clipper. Himalayan rock salt – I have been talking this for 10 months because I'm on The Watercure, about half a tsp, but after reading about adrenals I upped the dose to 1-2 tsp per day. I usually dose to taste… if it taste good….thats the right dose. If it tastes too salty that's too much. > > Also taking a little kelp for the iodine and maca powder too, both of > which help and I can actually feel the difference with these things. > > --------It's great when you actually feel it helping. How much of these are you taking?-------Jackie Sunshine: Kelp – I take 1 cap of 150mg – this is for thyroids so I will not go any higher on this until the temps are very steady. Apparently no variation of more than o.2 deg is what I'm looking for and I'm still slightly higher than that now. Maca powder. I don't know exactly how much I take. Someone posted some thyroid cookies awhile back, so I make these and eat a couple every day. I quadrupled the maca quantities in the recipe. Works wonders for my libido! I kid you not, wonders! Google it and have a good laugh! Organic Viagra!:-0 > > To find out about this stuff I read the following book : " adrenal > fatigue: The 21st century stress syndrome " by DR . I thought > this a great book. > > ---------I haven't read this one yet, but have seen it recommended. I have read " The Safe Uses of Cortisol " by Jefferies.--- -----Jackie Sunshine: I read 4 books about adrenals these last few months and I tackled " safe uses of cortisol " last. I found his book way too technical for me. I am not a medical man and I just did not understand the detail. I did not finish it, which is unusual for me, but was just too technical. Sunshine: Re different brand of ACE. ….thanks all the feed back. Just so I remember and get it straight, the one andy recommends is : " The correct one is the 250mg-100caps Allergy Research Group Nutricology Adrenal Cortex, and the ingredients says Adrenal Cortex Tissue " Cool, Thx, Sunshine

Guest guest
It would make you feel worse. You'll know. What people have said who were not able to take it was that it made them feel too hyper, like they drank a pot of coffee. I have not heard of too many that have this reaction though. If in doubt you should do a saliva test for your adrenal/thyroid function to be sure you have low cortisol. You can do this through Canary Club. -- In frequent-dose-chelation , " stringworship " wrote: > > > > > I can't think of any reason not to try it.
