Guest guest
I have been taking Adrenal Cortex Extract (ACE) for about 1 week. Gradually increasing the dose upto 4 caps per day and I have noticed the following. If I take this in the evening at dinner I cannot sleep at night. I did get intense body and especially face tingling & itching when I got upto 4 caps per day. I thought this might be something else I am talking(Vit , so I stopped that and the ACE and everything calmed down the next day. I then re-took the Vit B and nothing happened. I then retook some ACE and the symptoms returned. I stopped the ACE and again the symptoms stopped the next day. So that means the ACE gave me the tingling and itching, but that was at the high dose of 4 caps a day. The evening dosages certainly did not agree with me, so no need to try evening dosing again. So I will restart the ACE and go with 1 in the morning and 1 at lunch and see what happens. It was only when I increased the dosage that the itchy stuff happened. I will aim to get to 2 in the morning and 1 at lunch, but any more tingling and itching and I will stop altogether. My temps have fluctuated between 97.2 – 97.5 deg's. which is pretty good (for me) both in terms of high temp(for me) and fair stable(for me), especially since the tingling and itching was uncomfortable and made me feel pretty ropey during this time. And I have also been battling a little re-distribution after the last DMSA round. And heartburn. And dehydration. And my shoulders hurt like crazy. So the fact that my temp's stayed relatively stable, enough though I've had a rough week, means its worth persevering and trying again to find a suitable dosage of ACE. I will reprint my lab results and comments Jackie made > Adrenal stress profile (saliva) age group 30-39 > Cortisol levels > Sample 1. 7-8am 10.8 ... ref 12-22 > Sample 2. 11-12am 4.3....ref 4-8 > Sample 3. 4-5pm 4.4....ref 3-7 > Sample 4. 11-12pm 1.6....ref 1-3 > > ----------Yes you are certainly low all day, especially your > morning cortisol should be much higher. Guest guest
Sunshine, which ACE product is this, Thorne or Allergy Research Group/Nutricology? The mg's per capsule was much different, so I'd like to know which one you're using.--------Jackie In frequent-dose-chelation sunshinep1969 wrote: I have been taking Adrenal Cortex Extract (ACE) for about 1 week. The mg's per capsule was much different, so I'd like to know which one you're using.--------Jackie I am using the Thorne ACE product. 50mg per capsule. I have been back on the ACE(for the second attempt) for 3 days now, taking 1 cap at breakfast and one cap at lunchtime. (first time around I did 4 days on ACE before I had to stop.) A couple of noticeable things have happened. Firstly, I could not get to sleep last night at my normal time. In the end I got to sleep 2.5 hours later than normal. This is very unusual for me, normally I'm out like a light, every night at 1030pm. For me, this has to be related to the ACE….it is defo doing something to me. Secondly, my temps have become more unstable and lower. The feeling of being cold all the time is returning a little. Thirdly, I have the tingling and itching coming on strong all of a sudden this evening. This has only just happened now at the end of the third day on ACE. This tingling and itching is most unpleasant. What is happening now is what happened when I first took the Ace, so I am likely to conclude that ACE is no good for me. I will not take any Ace tomorrow and I will monitor my symptoms, if they recede I will know for sure it is no good for me. Just a note about the symptoms: I do not know for sure if this is because of the ACE, or because of the last DMSA round, or because I just started a parasite cleanse and a bowel cleanse and I started drinking Essiac tea too. I have only just started the parasite cleanse etc and I had not started these things when I first took the ACE and got the same symptoms. The Ace remains the number one suspect by far, but these symptoms could be just my body's general poor condition reacting to stressors. Certainly tingly&itchy are symptoms of my previous parasite cleanse, but at the moment I think and feel it's the ACE causing these things, because all the symptoms are the same as when I first took ACE. As I said, I will not take the ACE tomorrow and if symptoms lessen I will know it's the ACE. (I am having 2-3 weeks break from Chelating at the moment, I don't know if parasite cleansing is in or out of protocol, but I need to do it, no question about that. I have a bacteria problem that needs addressing. I decided not to chelate at the same time as the parasite cleanse. DMSA will have to wait its turn.) So people's tolerances and needs for this does seem to vary.-------Jackie I have been back on the ACE(for the second attempt) for 3 days now, taking 1 cap at breakfast and one cap at lunchtime. You may just not need ACE, or maybe just one in the morning?-----Jackie Secondly, my temps have become more unstable and lower. The feeling of being cold all the time is returning a little. ----------The only thing I can think of is that your body needs cortisol to use thyroid hormone, so when you give it the cortisol it needs, it may use up whatever thyroid hormone that was floating around, and then when that's gone and you aren't supplementing thyroid also, it could cause a drop in thyroid hormone levels. I'm not an expert on this, but I think I remember reading something like that when I used to read the NaturalThyroidHormone group for awhile. So the ACE may be affecting your thyroid levels.--------Jackie --------Somebody else may know more about this, jump in please!--------Jackie Thirdly, I have the tingling and itching coming on strong all of a sudden this evening. This has only just happened now at the end of the third day on ACE. This tingling and itching is most unpleasant. ----------The only time I recall having those symptoms was from yeast die-off from taking too many antifungals after having lots of antibiotics a year ago. And no, it's not pleasant!------Jackie What is happening now is what happened when I first took the Ace, so I am likely to conclude that ACE is no good for me. I have heard of Essiac tea, but have never used it myself, and have never heard of anybody having reactions to it. I would be suspect of the parasite cleanse, because of the die-off it could be causing.--------Jackie I have only just started the parasite cleanse etc and I had not started these things when I first took the ACE and got the same symptoms. You'll just have to keep experimenting and figure it out yourself. Maybe shelf the ACE for awhile and try it again down the road, when you're not doing cleanses or too many other things? I tried ACE a long time ago and didn't tolerate it then, but now this fall I do. Not sure why.----------Jackie As I said, I will not take the ACE tomorrow and if symptoms lessen I will know it's the ACE. As you can already see, it's hard to figure out what is doing what, without throwing chelation into the mix also. I'm not sure where Andy stands on parasite cleanses, but I do know he feels that liver flushes may be too hard on mercury toxic people.--------Jackie Sunshine ._,_.___ Messages in this topic (31) Reply (via web post) | Start a new topic Messages MARKETPLACE ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Earn your degree in as few as 2 years - Advance your career with an AS, BS, MS degree - College-Finder.net. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Fed Cuts Rates Again - Think you pay you much for your mortgage? Tried Armour without adrenal support, and it was no good. It's looking like maybe you don't need ACE, so your attempts to supplement with it may be causing an imbalance with your thyroid. Guest guest
Sunshine: I stopped taking the Ace two days ago and now all those symptoms have disappeared. I am sleeping fine, temps have gone back upto the low 97.2's, I am no longer cold all the time and the horrid tingling and itching has disappeared. I continue the parasite cleanse, bowel cleanse and the Essiac tea with no significant symptoms. So, Ace is not for me. But it was an interesting experiment, one that I wanted to do before I hit the HC. Now I just got to figure out what it means….i will ask around. I am seeing an adrenal/thyroid expert in the new year, so for now I will continue with the liquorice tea, salt, maca powder and kelp. It has only been a day since symptoms settled down, so I will see what happens in the coming week. I plan to slowly increase the kelp when my temps have stabilised for a week.
