Guest guest
Jo I have (sadly) had several cases like this from my first hv.. her first " brilliant " bit of advice was when she realised that dd1 was sleeping from 11pm until 6am Oh you cant let her do that you MUST wake her after 4 hours to feed her... I tried it once Phoebe was NOT to be woken and I thought well hang on how would I like it if a giant came pulled me out of bed and then stripped me off (also hv advice if she wouldn't wake) and stuck this gigantic boob into my face.. I stopped dd continued to sleep through the night (as did mummy and daddy) and she kept putting on weight .. (why could she not just say Oh wonderful as long as she is putting on weight fine then enjoy??) Her other wonderful piece of advice came when she found out we intended to raise bi lingual... Oh well that will be difficult for the child and she WILL be late at talking.. (in fact she was one of the first babies in my antenatal group to start talking) But the BEST one was to my friend who works in a SB unit (so is VERY used to handling small babies) she had a 5lb baby and when hv came to visit her she said to her Oh you are to confident with that baby you have to be more careful you cant just walk around with him like that... my friend did point out what she did for a living only to be told Oh that is DIFFERENT.. (no idea how???) In fact as time went on with dd1 I got that disillusioned with her that I asked to be moved to another hv for dd2 hv then arrived on my doorstep to find out Why?? sadly I was at the time 38 weeks pg and not in the mood for a confrontation so I didn't tell her that it was because I thought she was crap I just said that I felt I got on better with the other hv... She has (thankfully) left now and I will be getting a new hv for this one... not met her yet but know her name is Alison, guess I will soon though as dd2 is due her 18 month check soon. Lonnie Phoebe & Eloisa's mama & expecting a Christmas delivery... My therapist told me the way to achieve true inner peace is to finish what you start. So far today, I have finished 2 bags of chips and a Chocolate cake. I feel better already.
