Guest guest
Thanks again to everyone who has been so supportive. thank you for the info on the specific thyroid tests. I've printed them up. I'm going take them with me next time. My doc is an endo. The only poor excuse I can come up with to go along with his ignorance on the importance of the Free T4 is what our friend, who is a doctor and who I discussed the whole situation with today, explained. He said first that they are taught about ALL the thyroid tests in med school but that years ago before the tests were as accurate, they relyed mostly on clinical signs. They ran the somewhat unreliable tests to find a loose correlation. So my guy is probably in a time warp. He suggested what everyone said-get the test asap then look for another doctor. He said that I would know if I was hypo right away. I know I'm not there. You and others have helped me more than you'll ever know. I will get the free T4 test in the next one or two days. I'm going to hold tight on the 30 mgs till then. I think I can manage a few more days at this point. Then I have appointments for Dec.2 and 3. I know now what to look for. If they don't know TSI or any of the other important tests, I move on. In the meantime, I'll stick with the one I have now and get the tests I need on my own. Some of the golden rules I've learned here are spreading the doses evenly throughout the day, not dropping too much too soon and what tests to take. I appreciate and understand that no one cannot give or be perceived as giving medical advice. For the record, I don't take anything here as medical advice. I see it as just tapping into everyone else's collective experiences and sharing info for which I am grateful. Thank you all,
