Guest guest
If they x ray them it does. I think it's worth the hassle. Guest guest
I've never had any of my supplements or medication damaged by airport security X-rays (at least not that I've been able to notice when I took them). The same with ones in my checked baggage. You can't compare photographic film to medication. Film is designed to respond to electromagnetic radiation. That's why the film develops pictures on it, when exposed to light > > > > Would you let your supplements go through the airport security xrays? > > Or does that make them irradiated? > > > > When I was checking up on security requirements yesterday I found out > > that you are allowed to ask for a visual inspection of your medicines > > and medical supplies. Guest guest
Hi There, > When I was checking up on security requirements yesterday I found out > that you are allowed to ask for a visual inspection of your medicines > and medical supplies. And supplements are treated like medicines (I > called and asked). Do you think it would be worth the hassle? If you are going to do this you should probably check whether the supplements need to be in unopened a sealed container. > Or are the baggage xrays OK? This is for carry on luggage. One lady on another forum packs her supplements in a soft thermos type bag which is lined with aluminium foil. I have no idea if this works but it could be something to look into? Cheers, Cara
Guest guest
Thanks for thinking of calling to get this info and share it with us. I've had to let my luggage go through many times & share your concerns. Other times, I've shipped supplements separately ahead of time. It's a nuisance to travel with them no matter what. Guest guest
Well, I'm home again and can report on how it went. I put all my supplements and prescriptions in a gallon size zip-loc bag and when I got to the first security person I just told them that I had medicines I wanted visually inspected. They pointed out who I had to hand the bag to, and that was that. No hassle, no slow down, no attitude. On the outbound flight, when the bag was full, they took a little more time looking at everything. On the flight home, they barely glanced at it. FWIW, I used a combination of my daily-dose containers and individual small bags, with the prescriptions in their original containers. > > Would you let your supplements go through the airport security xrays? > Or does that make them irradiated? > > When I was checking up on security requirements yesterday I found out > that you are allowed to ask for a visual inspection of your medicines > and medical supplies.
