Guest guest
As part of my supplementation regimen to support chelation, I have been taking 200-400mg of milk thistle per day to support liver function and increase bile flow. However, on my last trip to the supplement shop, in my infinite wisdom I decided it made sense to purchase Vitamin Shoppe's " Liver Support " supplement instead of straight milk thistle. This supplement contains the following, per tablet: - Milk thistle extract (70mg) - Dandelion (200mg) - Phosphatildycholine (100mg) - Inositol (500mg) I plan on taking 3 tablets per day. I had thought that all of these ingredients would be good for supporting the liver during chelation. However, I just double-checked Amalgam Illness, and Andy says that dandelion is contraindicated in mercury toxic individuals. Andy clearly states that a " liver flush " can be harmful, especially for those who are mercury toxic, by putting too much stress on the liver. And apparently dandelion can be used for a " liver flush " . Okay, makes sense. But is there any reason to be concerned when taking modest quantities of dandelion in the context of the " liver support " supplement that I've described above, as opposed to in a " liver flush " program? I suspect it won't matter too much either way. But if there are compelling reason(s) that mercury toxic people should avoid dandelion completely, then I'll stay away from it. But I would hate to waste a whole bottle of this stuff if there's really no reason to be concerned... Thanks, Darren

My understanding is that Dandelion is high sulfur and that would make it a possible problem for many mercury toxic people. I'm not sure if that is the only reason for Andy's caution on it.
