With time you may want to increase those and divide to 3 or 4 times a day. See " Amalgam Illness " for the other basic supplements. The side effects can easily be controlled by decreasing the dose of chelators and thus moving less metals. This is something that most people get confused about. Many start chelating with doses of chelators that are too high, get side effects, and then throw up their hands in despair, when all they needed to do was lower the chelator dose. This is also the major reason why we suggest starting at doses of 12.5 mg per dose. It is not likely that there will be side effects at such a low dose and for the few people that do have side effects, they shouldn't be too extreme, and they can lower the dose to 5 mg or so. I started DMSA at 25 mg per dose. The side effects scared me because they were brain related. It took a _whole_year_ for me to figure out to lower the dose. At 18 mg the side effects were manageable and at 12.5 mg the side effects were __nothing__. Sorry to go on about this..... > however , for ALA Ihave to wait 3 months. > My question is why it is so important to chelate using any of this???? > Is my body not going to heal by itself??? It is possible that your body will slowly start to remove some. It is also possible that your body won't be able to remove any metals at all because the existence of the metals in the body interferes with the enzymes and processes that excrete toxins. It is sort of like the more toxic person _can't_ remove metals until some metals are removed and for them proper chelation is the only hope. Even for bodies that can remove some metals - the removal doesn't happen very fast so it is not likely that much will be removed in the person's lifetime. There is almost _no_ natural clearance of metals from the brain, some people have even less ability to clear metals from the brain because of genetics, so anyone who wants any hope to remove metals from the brain has to chelate, and has to chelate with ALA on a proper 3 h schedule. It may not be clear right now what the metals in the brain are doing. Removing them would reduce the risk of developing some degenerative diseases in the future. Andy has commented on the decision to not chelate after amalgam removal: http://onibasu.com/archives/am/120331.html http://onibasu.com/archives/am/82494.html See also the sections under " Starting Chelation " in this wiki page for other relevant information (e.g. the 3 month rule and doing trial rounds): http://onibasu.com/wiki/Cutler_protocol As far as side effects go, DMSA and DMPS are a walk in a part compared to ALA for many people. What sorts of worries are you having? I would clarify if it related to frequent low dose chelation (Cutler's protocol) or the more common high infrequent doses used by doctors. I would increase Vitamin C intake by a lot more if you can tolerate it. 3-10 grams for example. Jay

Guest guest
My last set was removed yesterday, and my God I was soooo very depressed in the evening; later on at night woke up at 1:30 and couldn't fall asleep. Morning wasn't good either up until I took Milk thistle, felt more better after taking vitamin C. So do you think this is all related to my amalgam removal and I should chelate now??? Thanks in advance!!!! Sunny > -------rest of message deleted, too long!
