Hi

Do you really think it's essential to have 3 equal doses a day? I reduced from

20 mgs by 2 1/2 mgs every 2 weeks until I got to 5 mgs. Then I reduced by 1

1/4 every other week. At 17 1/2 and 12 1/2 mgs I took the larger dose at

night. It may not be the most accurate way to do it but it was easy. During

that time, I often wished tapazole came in 1 mg tabs. It may be a while before

we get our wish. Based on what I've been reading, most doctors get their

patients RAI'd before coming anywhere near that dose or have them stop cold

turkey at 5 mgs.

Hope you had a good weekend and find an answer to all this.

Re:Elaine/Labs Back, Itching, ATD's-To Elaine

Hi Elaine -

Do you know of a good way to more gradually reduce from 30 mg of Tap

a day, and still keep it in 3 equal doses per day? I had thought

about suggesting that chip off a bit of the 10 mg pill, trying

to keep it about the same amount chipped off each time. Trying to

gauge about 1 mg or 1/10th being chipped off. This would bring her

down to about 9 mg, three times a day = 27 mg. This is the way I am

able to reduce my Inderal, as it comes in 10 mg pills as the lowest

increment.

This is why I suggested 3/4 of a 10 mg pill three times

a day, equaling 22.5 mg a day. And getting the 5 mg pills

would make dividing it up even easier. Don't know how to make this

easier, and certainly dropping to 20 mg (10 mg every 12 hours is even

worse).

In my case, I've been fooling with this super gradual reduction and

have made it into an art form..... LOL.... but it's tough getting

started. I can write to the mfr suggesting 1 mg pills, till I'm blue

in the face, and they don't even have the decency to reply to my

email... Frustrating!

What do you think would be the best to advise?

Best Wishes,

Chris
