Hi -

I just wanted to make a comment on something you said:

>>>>>I guess I'll know better once I try to achieve remission--18

months from now is my endo's plan.<<<<<

It's impossible to put a time limit on trying for remission. You

take the ATDs, testing as necessary, and reduce the dosage

gradually. You may get to the point where you can drop the ATDs

ANYWHERE along the line. You'll know when this happens as it will be

the only way have good thyroid levels and not be hypO. THAT IS

REMISSION!

It just chaps my rear when endos put a time frame on this. In fact

some endo-jerks put a 6 WEEK limit--achieve remission in 6 weeks or

it's off to the nuke fest!

It is impossible (unless they have some kind of crysal ball and

supernatural powers!) as we are all DIFFERENT. If you run along

at a certain amount of ATD and right at the 18 month point you drop

them, your levels will zoom right back up.

Who knows? In your case you might take a gradually

reduced amount of ATD, and in SIX MONTHS may find you no

longer need them. Are you going to continue to take the

meds for another year, just to fit into some endo's

pre-determined time frame that is based on pure BS?

Just relax, and take it as it comes. Some people might

need 2 years, 3 years, 4 years, and then remission will

occur. Some may never need the meds at all, and some may only

need them for a few weeks. Sure wish the endos would WISE UP

on this matter. Their smart enough to get through 8+ years of

medical school, but common sense is nowhere to be found!

P.S. - Re mushrooms. Once again, everyone is different, but

I get hyper symptoms when I have mushrooms, even a small amount.

This may not happen with others, but you need to realize

that mushrooms are a fungus, and ATDs contain anti-fungal

agents...... food for thought and something to watch for.

Best Wishes,

Chris
