Hi Everyone:

I will be starting chemo the week after next. It will be Folfox,

i.e., Oxaliplatin, 5FU, Leucovorin every 2 weeks. Day one, I will be

in the office for about 4 hours; I will leave with a waist pack of

5FU for the next 2 days at home. Avastin will be added after the

second or third round; it is too early to add it now as it will stop

my surgical wounds from healing.

I am in need of answers with respect to side effects from

Oxaliplatin. Most importantly, I understand that I cannot drink

anything cold and cannot touch anything cold (as in the refrigerator)

without gloves. Has anyone experienced this sensitivity to cold and

this " choking " feeling when they drink something cold? If so, please

let me know how long this lasts; that is, do I have to drink room

temperature beverages/water for only a few days or does this last the

entire time I am on chemo? Also, this must mean no more milk or soy

milk on cereal, right? What do you do to get enough hydration while

avoiding this side effect? Also, does this mean I cannot eat yogurt,

cottage cheese, fresh fruit, etc. from my refrigerator? Does

everything have to be room temperature or more?

Please let me know what to expect and whether I can expect to be able

to eat at all while on this chemo.

Thanks so much and love to you all.
