Guest guest
janet: how you clean their bum; what products (if any) do you smear all over for 'protection'. : Thankfully past this stage now, but I used wipes (Boots, soft wipes, frangrance free), then a clean tissue to dab dry. (I hate smelly wipes- eugh, makes me shiver thinking about it) Initially I used cotton wool and water as this is what I was told to use while I was in hospital after giving birth. I carried on for a day or two, then asked my midwife who was visiting if it was OK to use wipes as the water was a bit of a pain. New mum syndrome - almost asking for permission to change what I'd been told in hospital. Thankfully she was very reassuring and told me hospital routines weren't always the real world for looking after newborns at home and todo whatever I wanted. Never looked back. DS2 never really bothered and with DS3 have never bothered with creams unless his bum is sore and I think that has only been 1 or 2 times in 23 months. I use baby wipes (whatever is on BOGOF) and disposable nappies, and never change him very often (unless he stinks!) Guest guest
>>Initially I used cotton wool and water as this is what I was told to use while I was in hospital after giving birth. I did this for a year...! My DD was so precious.. I didn't want her pure little bottom full of chemicals, haha. She still developed either thrush or ringworm and all creams, wipes, lotions etc just made it much worse - so that prolonged the pure cotton wool and water stage for ages. Needless to say DS has been on wipes from the first change in hospital... (but they had developed Pampers Sensitive by then, which doesn't have that perfumed smell).
