Guest guest
Hi, guys. Does anyone have experience with allergies? For the past few weeks, there have been mornings when I wake up with an itchy rash and/or a swollen mouth and lips. This morning, it is particularly bad. I look like a cartoon character and at first could not even purse my lips enough to drink water. This is the worst incident so far. It's going down gradually now. I took an antihistamine. I did not eat or drink anything before going to bed last night. The only thing I'm going to suspect is the chocolate I ate yesterday afternoon, thanks to all the chocolate banter on this list! I've never had an allergic reaction to chocolate before. I take levoxyl, cytomel and calcium w/Vit. D in the morning, nothing the rest of the day until Ibuprofen at night. Hmm...a reaction to something in the Ibuprofen? I've been taking it for years. It's getting kind of unfunny now and a little alarming. As Gilda Radner said, " It's always something! " Ideas? Red *************************************************************************** Courage doesn't always shout. Sometimes it is the quiet voice at the end of the day that says, " I will try again tomorrow. "
Guest guest
Hey Red....if you have hives and your lips are swollen, that is not a good thing. Be very careful. If this is the case, you could get them down your windpipe and block your breathing. I would call the doctor. My daughter had a bad case of hives once and her lips swelled so I took her to the doc. The put her on a short course of steroids. Guest guest
Hi Red, Sounds miserable, and I do not have any ideas, but it seems like a good time to comment on the Ibuprofen...which does have a small amount of iodine in it. It is probably the coloring on the outside coating. I did take lots of it, but I kept it in mind when figuring my iodine budget for the day. And I suspect this is the reason if I took very much at just the wrong time, it consistently kept me awake. Another mystery solved. -Pam L-
Guest guest
Oh... Jody..good thought: Maybe when you lay your head on the pillow there is something reacting? Remember when awhile back I was waking up all swollen and my eyes were red and sore ? Turned out my cat had taken to sleeping on my pillow while I was gone during the day, and quickly hopped off when he heard me come in the door . I lay a cover over every thing now before I leave in the morning, and sure enough...FUR :-) tee hee -Pam L-

Guest guest
Thanks, . I left messages at the GP's and Rheumatologist's offices. The nurse I talk to thinks it may be something related to Lupus. It's after 2 p.m. as I write this and I took an antihistimine immediately after seeing the cartoon person in the mirror, but my face still hurts. Guest guest
> > >>>I take levoxyl, cytomel and calcium w/Vit. D in the morning,<<< > > Red, are you taking all of these together??? Calcium can interfer with our absorbtion of our meds...just curious. Yep. I know, I know. I also can't take them before I eat something, as I get nauseated. The reason I take the calcium at the same time is that I'll probably forget it otherwise. No way I'd remember to take multiple doses of anything during the day. " KNOW THYSELF, " the philosopher said. Remember folks, do as I say, not as I do. I changed all the linens on my bed this morning, with the same thought. Because I rotate bed linens, it's not likely that everything would have been washed at the same time with the same detergent. I've been having a less severe reaction for weeks before today. Thanks, Jody. Red
