Hi all,

Just wanted to let everyone know Dani got home from the hospital today at

4pm!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Seems like all the worry about her bowel sounds ( there was none ) worked

itself out anytime you mess with the spine during surgery they go to sleep (

wish someone had told us this)

They then have to be given a few days to awaken( the bowel sounds that is )

She is still having headaches , but not nearly as frequently , AND she read

some today , for those of you who dont know , generally if you see her

without a book in her hand she is sleeping :)

But since her surgery she hadnt even TRIED to read due to the extreme

headaches.

She is still swollen around her face/neck area,

But she is moving better, she got home from the hospital with full intention

of taking a HOT shower, her body wanted rest first though , she slept for 3

hours.

Thank you all so very much for all the prayers and support

They mean the world to us

My mom says prune juice works best for her, she couldnt get started after her

surgery either, and the prune juice worked. I never could have gotten my son to

drink prune juice though, not in a million! ~Dianna

I guess this will give my age away but there was a time they would never release

you from hospital till you had a BM! I used to get so mad getting woke up in the

morning and being asked if I had a BM:) Geez after my resect they started

talking about me going home and I was still on 10th day of IV only. I asked them

if I should not try to eat first. Of course with that I had no problem with BM.

Could not stop them!

When mom had her rectal surgery and was reattached, she couldnt go for a long

time, they finally gave her an enema. Is Dani having gas or bowel sounds, any

pains? ~Dianna

My mom always threatened me with prunes or an enema when I was

constipated as a child. Rather than have an enema I ate the prunes -

actually got to liking them...LOL...all Dani would need to do is eat

maybe three dried prunes (they taste better that way) and it should get

things working. Encourage her to eat some fresh fruit -citrus kinds,

vegetables.. If all else fails try Colace, it is a pretty mild stool

softener and some have something extra.. I preferred the straight

Colace. Just gently encourages on to go... HOpe some of this helps...JOlene

I remember that time well Hil..... Could not believe they wouldn't let

me go until I had a bm. Well it was usually when I was having a

baby..... First time they had to do the enema thing. I hate them with a

passion...LOL!!! but after that I got smart. I don't know what sweetner

was in Rolaids back then.... maybe sucrose or something but All I had to

do was eat a few rolaids and wasn't long and I had my bm..(those

velamint candies which I dearly loved, did it to me as well)

They never had to do enema again. LOL... Jolene
