Guest guest
Things went really well on my first round. It was a lot easier and less stressful than I had built it up to be. I started on 12.5mg of DMSA every 4 hours. For my first couple of doses, I felt a bit spaced out and stoned, but not unpleasantly. I started to feel good on the second day, did a long day of physical work and didn't feel worn out as I usually do. Increased to 25mg. Felt pretty jolly. Increased the next day to 50mg, felt a bit headachey, but that could have been because I ate eggs for breakfast. Not sure. During the first night, one of my alarms didn't go off and I was 17 mins late taking a dose. I had a weird dream where my head was in the middle of my chest and my arms had moved around (redistributed?) Not sure if I should have not taken that dose and just stopped. How many minutes is too late? Anyway, four hours and five minutes after my last dose, I began to feel stoned. I was watching my GF cook and found myself telling her about my " broccoli poisoning " instead of my " mercury poisoning " . It was actually kinda fun and only lasted an hour. Nothing unusual to report since then. I just wanted to describe it in case there are any newcomers like me curious about what it feels like for others. I had been so nervous because I'm so much more drug sensitive than the general population. But I guess these recommendations and doses are not for the general public, they are for the mercury intoxicated like me. Oh, and the only side effect I felt was a little sensitivity in my gums. It was very mild, I probably wouldn't have noticed it except I read it in someone else's post and was watching out for it. > > Ten months after amalgam removal I found Andy's book. Guest guest
Aine, It's great that your first round went pretty well! I would suggest using some caution about ramping up the dose. Symptoms can change from round to round, also within rounds. Feeling jolly can get to be a negative symptom depending on just how jolly you get. You don't want to find yourself doing things you regret later. I would stick with a fairly low dose for several rounds before increasing. Better safe than sorry. -- > > > > Ten months after amalgam removal I found Andy's book. Going to try > > 12.5mg DMSA every four hours starting now. You can only increase the dose when you start a new round. Dose increases should be more than half of you previous dose e.g from 12.5 to 17.5 is okay, but from 12.5 - 25 is not. You will cause a lot of redistribution problems chelating like your are as they blood levels are all over the place during a round. Please be careful. Guest guest
I second that emotion. It sounds to me like you're ramping up very fast. Keep in mind that metal removal increase by the square root of the chelator dose, NOT proportionally. So there is no reason to risk side effects by ramping up fast. Here's how Andy put it in an earlier message: ________________________ Give your kid 10 mg of DMSA every 4 hours: and he pees out let us say 3 mcg of mercury a day. Give him 100 mg of DMSA every 4 hours and he will pee out 10 mcg of mercury a day. Of course some mercury is pooped out too, and DMSA doesn't do anything to that, so increasing dosage by 10 fold doesn't even increase excretion by a factor of 3, it is more like 2 times. Side effects on 10 mg, low. Side effects on 100 mg, horrendous. Is this clear, or should I talk about it more? Andy . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Re: Starting chelation today - How it went Aine, It's great that your first round went pretty well! I would suggest using some caution about ramping up the dose. TK would tell you that one of the biggest mistakes he sees people make is going too fast like this. If you felt really good and could function really well on the lower dose, then I would stick with that for awhile. I think it's better to be at a dose where you can function, than to push the doses too high and cause yourself more problems and setbacks. I would recommend going back to 12.5mg, or at the very highest, 25mg. And stay at that dose for a few rounds, at least. Many here will tell you that this isn't a race, and that slow and steady is the way to go. And doubling your dose of chelator does not double your mercury excretion, I think it only increases by about 30%. So please be careful and patient, and don't harm yourself further.----------Jackie During the first night, one of my alarms didn't go off and I was 17 mins late taking a dose. Guest guest
Thanks guys for watching out for me. In Amalgam Illness, it was recommending DMSA doses of 50-100mg, so I thought what I was doing was pretty small potatoes. I'll take it easy from now on! Man, this stuff is complex... > > > > Things went really well on my first round. It was a lot easier and > > less stressful than I had built it up to be. Guest guest
Your welcome. I'm just returning the favor. The best advice I got from the wise people here when I joined the group was to start at lower doses than what is in the book. I'm sure that saved me, because I would have never tolerated 50mg doses, I still don't. Starting at 12.5mg was the right thing to do.-------Jackie In frequent-dose-chelation Aine wrote: Thanks guys for watching out for me. Guest guest
Amalgam Illness was written some time ago. Since that time it's been the experience of many that those doses are too high. The recommendations in the email you got when you joined the group are more up to date. Dean Re: Starting chelation today - How it went Thanks guys for watching out for me.
