I bought a send away kit, called Stitch-A-Photo from a local craft shop. I found a photograph and sent it in the enclosed envelope and the chart came back within a few days. The chart was done in a huge variety of symbols and each symbol was given a thread colour number. I had to go and buy all the individual threads, it cost about £40 for them all (initial cost of Stitch-A-Photo pack was £15) and I gave it to my DH for his birthday. I also had to buy the Aida but it wasn't expensive. The result is a wonderful heirloom for our son to have in his house one day...
