Well, folks Phil just woke up from a nap and said he has no pain. Go figure!

Maybe he's doing too much again. At any rate I'm going to make him call in

on Monday

I told him to stop this or I'll wind up in the hospital!!!

Thanks for your concern

Glad to hear pain is gone. He just needs to take it easy and pace

himself. Know you are relieved.... Whew.

God Bless and hugs Jolene

Narice,

Isn't Phil on any regular medication schedule for his

ulcers? Usually, meds like aciphex or any of the

others available are prescribed to be taken on a

regular schedule as this is how they work best. It is

also quite possible that due to his liver involvement,

the ulcer meds may not be metabolizing efficiently to

absorb the maximum dosage. Check with his doc about

possibly trying either a different ulcer med,a

combination of ulcer meds, or a different schedule for

taking them (such as every 4 hrs, etc.) Some of the

drugs work better for some than others, just like

everything else.

I personally have ulcer flare-ups every now & then and

naturally they've been worse during stressful times.

But through trial & error over many years, I (and my

doc)have learned what works best for me and have been

able to avoid any more of the really bad attacks and

bleeding. The back pain is very often the first & most

prominent symptom.

Hang in there and keep at the docs til they find what

works for Phil!!!

Hugs & Prayers,

H

PS: I can totally relate to Phil's laments concerning

ER's. I would think he'd be better off talking to the

on-call onc if his is not available. Often they will

agree to meet the patient on arrival & forestall the

normal ER protocal. My husband's onc & the center he

was treated at always did this. They instructed their

patients to call the oncology emergency number rather

than the regular ER.
