Guest guest
Amy had a visit with an ophthalmologist today; he declared her watery, itchy eyes to be a problem with Graves' but saw no other problems there. She's on eye drops several times a day to help. Her endo visit last week went well, but could anyone comment on the labs? I'm a little concerned with some of the numbers. Also, she seems to have been swinging back and forth with pulse rates lately. Finally, her blood pressure, measured three times, was around 88/50 with a couple lower readings. Any comment here? Here are labs: range units WBC 4.7 4.5 - 11.0 X10*3 RBC 4.11 3.8 - 5.1 X10*6 HGB 12.9 11.5 - 16.0 G/DL Red Cell 14.2 11.5 - 14.5 % platlet 198 145 - 450 X10*3 glucose 69 70 - 105 MG/DL Bilirubin 1.7 0.0 - 1.0 MG/DL Total T4 7.1 4.5 - 12.0 UG/DL TSH/im 3.76 0.4 - 4.0 UIU/ML FREE T4 1.1 0.8 - 1.9 NG/DL Total T3 121. 82 - 179 NG/DL Thank you so much and Merry Christmas! Guest guest
Hi Amy's Pam, It looks like Amy is a bit hypothyroid. Her TSH is best kept below 2.0 and preferably 1.0, and her FT4 would be better near the higher edge of normal. Hypothyroidism can account for her low blood pressure, and it can make any eye symptoms worse. Her bilirubin, which is a bile pigment used to test liver function, is elevated and this could also be related to her dose of ATD being too high. Her other labs look fine. Take care, Elaine
