Guest guest
Hey guys So after a somewhat restless night last night at the hospital with Amy, we did manage to get about 4 hours sleep or so. I didn't care, I would stay by her side 24 hours a day if I could. The docs came in and said that " if he was a betting man, he would bet that Amy has pnemonia " . He saw fluid in the lungs and around the lungs in the CT scan, which we knew yesterday.......He wanted to try the antibiotics to treat the urinary tract infection and see if that would bring down the fever. But unfortunately the fever is still pretty high so he thinks the reasoning for it may be the fluid in the lungs. However (this is the resident, Amy's surgeon is now on holiday for a week), he doesn't want to start her on the meds for pnemonia yet until the blood cultures come back Monday........he said the side effects are quite rough. I think he is going to chat with some other docs to get their input and then get back to Amy. So the we take two steps forward and then three steps back. Her bowels are silent again today. When they increase her pain meds, her bowels go to sleep.....when they decrease the pain meds, her pain sky rockets....I think it is better to keep her comfortable. Keeping you all posted. Thank you AGAIN for ALL of your supportive, thoughtful, and caring e-mails. Helps me get through the day. Hugs Peta
