Right first time Mari is pronounced Marry as in 'married'

The use of 'i' rather than 'y' is the recognised but not strictly correct

Welsh as in: babi (pronounced babby), mami and dadi.

I've been saying it as Mar (to rhyme with bar) -ri to myself rather

than " marry " , but now I know!
