They sound like Braxton Hicks (which are very often defined as non-painful

contractions - but can very often be very uncomfortable to the point of

immobilisation - but only for 30 seconds or so).

I had Braxton Hicks from about 14 weeks gestation, and they occurred every

day, although not all day - so they can be felt very early in pregnancy.

However, I am not a medical person (just an ANT) and I would always say to

people who at all worried to seek further advice from their midwife/ GP.
