update on the Zion sick ward/ Levaquin info

Hello All...Mike is doing amazingly well!!

The PT and visiting nurse have been here

Thursday and today. He only needs the cane! His incision is still

draining and that has made for

extra bed sheet changes. Thankfully , Sam has been here to help.

As far as Mike's pain levels are concerned I'm totally amazed...he's

not being a complainer

at all...a really good patient! He even walked out to get the mail and

newspaper

this morning and I haven't ventured out at all.

The Levaquin and I are not in agreement!!!

My IBS symptoms are here in response to the Levaquin and the stress!!

So I'm eating very lightly, loads of liquid and rice and toast and

applesauce.

Sam went home to go to work today but will be here tomorrow.

and Adam are coming over on Sunday. Between all of them, shopping and

extra

cleaning up will get one.

My house keeper was here today and will come earlier next week if we

need her.

Thank goodness I have loads of soups and casseroles in the freezer.

Usually we

take turns with the cooking and now neither of us has the energy.

An interesting bit if information about LEVAQUIN..from

the doctor and pharmacist..

1.It should not be taken less than 4 hours away from any calcium

product like vitamins, or calcium

anti-acids or even milk products! The calcium makes the Levaquin

absorb at about 1/2 its potency.

2. It has been shown that in the elderly ( that's 60+) there can be

tendon injury from the Levaquin.

So they are now prescribing larger doses over less time. My script is

750mg daily for 5 days,

instead of the original 10 day routine.So, if you develop any

joint,muscle,tendon type pain...call you Dr., stop

all exercising and rest.

I haven't taken Levaquin very often, but the doctor was really adamant

about telling me this information.

He had not done so previously.
