It must have been all the talk on here of moving that set me thinking

so I blame you lot. A 5/6 bedroomed house came up for sale 5mins away

from the childrens high school/colleges and within walking distance

of a primary school. We viewed it on Monday took the children back on

Tuesday, had an offer accepted on Wednesday and the couple informed

us that they have had their offer accepted and the house they are

buying is empty so it will be a quick sale.

I didn't really expect it to happen so quick and now have to face the

prospect of moving and changing Kara's school.I have been frantically

phoning the new primary school to try and arrange a visit with Kara

as she is supposed to start school in September and I figure it will

be easier to start straight there than begin at the present one and

then change a couple of weeks into term. They do have a place and are

happy to take her but her present school said they will keep her

place open in case it all falls through. It was very emotional on

Friday when she finished to think that she might not be going back. I

went to that school, so did my brothers and sister, all my other

children and all my nephews and nieces. I had several teachers who

taught my other children saying " ..are we not getting the last

Grayson then oh how sad it's the end of an era... " . I was nearly in

tears and thinking what am I doing I don't want to move.

Logically though I know that this is a good move to a bigger house in

a nicer area, close to the school and college (less petrol costs)and

close to the older ones friends that they go to school with so they

are happy. The downside is childcare in the shape of my mum, dad,

sister, MIL and SIL won't be 2 mins walk away but a whole 7miles away

(bet you thought I was moving millions of miles away)so I will

probably do permanent nights so that I will always be there to take

Kara to and from school but I only do 2/3 nights a week anyway.

Any way I'll probably be regaling you with my tales of moving soon

although we will probably move ourselves as we've done it before and

all the family pitch in.

I'm sure it will go smoothly.

Good luck

Donna,

I know that when my family moved across town (and a small town at

that) so many things changed. We went to the same school afterwards,

but I no longer saw my next door neighbour who was a good friend and

no longer could hang out (easily, at least) with the other kids that I

had spent all my time with before, etc. I was 11, so a lot of things

were changing anyway, but this was a pretty abrupt break.

It was not a million miles, but sometimes it felt like it!
