Here is an example of how " we the people " can force the hand of Congress and our

President.

$100 Million Restored to NPR/PBS

We are delighted that we were able to help restore some of the cuts made to NPR

and PBS. MoveOn.org members sent in more than 1 million comments and made more

than 40,000 calls to tell Congress to save Big Bird and Mr.

This is (obviously) not from a health activist campaign - but I am sharing it so

that you know that we can make this happen. Time is of the essence though. By

March 6, 2006 we need to have contacted all of our legislators and media -

multiple times. If we do, we can have what we want - screening for all adults

starting at age 18, regardless of health insurance.

Have you contacted your legislators? Have you sent them your story and the

Screening proposal?

Have you contacted your local media?

Will you send them all an email this weekend?

And will you set aside 30 minutes every week to contact them again?

Will you set up a table at the local grocery store and gather petition

signatures?

Who can you ask to help in this campaign? Emails are free. Speaking up is free

and is a guaranteed right in the USA. But a right is useless if not taken

advantage of.
