Guest guest
Well went in this morning for the bone scan, found out I was a day early but they did me anyway. Nice.. LOL Got the injection and went to PUb and had lunch, drank water and then went home. Had to get a pain pill and refill water jug and then headed back to hospital. The scan took about 20-30 mins. What they found was a compressed fracture in my spine, the area between my shoulder blades. He said that there were two possiblities either the cancer had metastisized to the bone - but he felt that was unlikely cause it didn't show up anywhere else. Or osteoporosis.. So this coming week I go in for bone density test, which I should have had years ago. I have had this bad back sinc 1975 - that is when I distinctly remember a minor flair up. So while I don't think it is caused by osteoporsis it may be aggravated by it. What with the chemo, steroids I have been taking off and on (though really not that much), am taking calcium but no more hormones.. So anyway we will see what the BD test shows next week. I just want them to do something to fix it and give me pain med that works. I think I am going to lay down and take a nap. Kris didn't do anymore washing. She starts work on Friday and kids are coming back front their dad's so I guess we will rush to do everything this weekend. Drat... OH well so it goes. My prayers are going out to everyone, seems like everyone is going through some rough times right now. God Bless you all. Oh yes Donelle I will get the photos later today. Hugs to all Jolene > > ------------------------------------------------------------------------ >

Guest guest
Jolene, At lesast you got to get the bone scan a day early. Why do they always have to mention it may be cancer?? They do this just becuause they know we have had cancer in our past. Same with the nodule they found in my lung. Going to treat it as if it was cancer, just because I have a history of it. Well it was not and I have to heal for months just because of this. I sure hope they can get you some relief for the back pain. Yes, a lot here are going through some really rough times. I am hoping that God hears all of our Prayers for them and helps them out. Ingrid > Well went in this morning for the bone scan, found out I was a day early > but they did me anyway. Nice.. Guest guest
Just my two cents but any lump has to be biopsied even if you've never had cancer. I had a benign tumor between my ear and jaw bone of my face but they still had to send it for biopsy better safe than sorry. My Dad was 75 and they tested him for colon cancer and did a chest x-ray in Nov. 2004. He started having back rib and later hip pain in January 2005. The doctor saw him but dismissed it as arthritis (pretty quick onset for an active man!!) he was moving fine in Nov. No matter how many times my mother asked them to x-ray his bones they blew her off!!! And they never did anything with the lung cancer since Dad had COPD and smoked and nothing had showed up on his NOV. x-ray The oncologist that finally found the lung cancer and bone mets admitted that it was small cell and an amazingly aggressive form but didc say if Dad's primary had done a bone scan they would have found it sooner. It would not necessarily have changed the outcome but it may have changed the quality of life and comfort. I think in cancer if I may be bold we have 2 problems. Either they think you are too young and healthy looking to have it or maybe worse you get to a certain age and they give up on you. But it is the same story as with us, if diagnosed early it can be easily handled, but because a person is under this age, and in her case Never Smoked she cannot possibly have lung cancer so therefore that diagnosis is ignored, same wtih colon cancer. Well that person is too young to have colon cancer so there fore it has to be some thing else - and by the time they do diagnosis it, then it is almost too late to cure it. Arghhh... I have seen so much cancer all around me these past few years that these docs cannot conitnue to ignore this disease just because it doesn't follow the guide lines of diagnosis.
