Guest guest
Since I'm learning that I'm actually borderline and not the VERY sick girl the first endoweenie told me I was....I haven't been religiously reading all my labels either. I cut out caffiene, shellfish, iodized salt, soy sauce and seaweed (I'm half Korean and I can put away the California rolls). I didn't know about salmon. Bummer. I eat a little ice cream but no Halloween candy. I do fine on decaf coffee but hate caffeine-free Pepsi/Coke so I drink water. My mom always preached moderation. I just have to find a new level of moderation:) good night-- dx 10-15-02 Tap (15mg) & Top (50mg)

It has something to do with the chemicals used to decaffeinate coffee. If you can find water decaffeinated coffee, it's much better for you. Guest guest
Hi - What's wrong with salmon? I thought it was a fresh water fish (because it swims upstream?) and since not an ocean fish, it wouldn't be rife with iodine. Hmmmmm - better look into THAT. I know it is high in magnesium and calcium, esp the soft bones. I had never heard of salmon being a problem for hypers. And I agree with Tori about the decaf coffee as being processed with certain chemicals. Found this link: http://www.howstuffworks.com/question480.htm I had also heard that decaf had formaldehyde (sp) in the processing, but that might have been an old wives' tale, like ATDs being toxic, etc. LOL! You might check the ingredients on the ice cream to see if there is " carrageenan " in it, as that is a seaweed derivative that is used in most commerical ice creams, whipping cream, etc. Can't find how much iodine content that adds to the product. But I also eat a small amount of Haagen Daaz, which doesn't list carrageenan, but who really knows for sure. Just a head's up in case you feel hyper after eating ice cream, but didn't mean to rain on your parade. I'm just a bit of a fanatic, and that might not be such a good thing..... Best Wishes, Chris ---------- > Since I'm learning that I'm actually borderline and not the VERY sick > girl the first endoweenie told me I was....I haven't been religiously > reading all my labels either. Guest guest
My ND says that drinking decaf is the worst thing you can do to your liver... I heard that too but I forgot about water-decaffed coffee! I will check Trader Joe's and Wild Oats. Thanks! I think I read that you use the chrystal deodorant? I've been loving mine for years for convenience and no white smears on clothes but didn't know about the aluminum in anti-perspirants. -- dx 10-15-02 Tap (15mg) and Top (50mg)
