Guest guest
Hi Jen and - This is very interesting. I'm thinking that this placental failure (my firstborn almost died at birth from a very small placenta) is the same thing that I had. What was happening was that my immune system was attacking the chorionic villi that supplied blood to the placenta causing it to start dying off early. It caused extensive inflammation and scarring. Eventually, the placenta dies from a lack of blood supply killing the baby in the process. To avoid this reaction this time, I've been on steroids during my entire pregnancy to keep my immune response to a minimum. Take care, dx & RAI 1987 (at age 24) > Hi, > > > I know of about 6 people(1 being my sis and another my sis-in-law and 1 my > best friend) that all had that placenta failure...luckily they were closely > watched and outcome was good, but that is weird they had their 1st children > without this problem and recently EVERYONE has this..strange.
