Guest guest
Jody, Awhile back, I saw somewhere that upstate NY is a cluster group of thyroid disease. I 'should' have sent it to you then, but you had so much going on at the time, I was POSITIVE I would remember the site later. If I find it saved somewhere here, I will send it. Though, holding your breath might be a bad idea. I was really curious what you have there that is causing this. I also find the fact that I can NOT find such a statement concerning my area not surprising, since Hanford is very good at keeping secrets. When I was a kid, ALL of us played in the river, on the beaches, and as I got older and realized what all the waste that leaches into this river can do...well...it is one more thing , you know. I have noticed how many we see on the internet from here, but it is much more real in my everyday world. Once my eyes bugged out, you can not imagine how many people took it upon themselves to identify . They did have Graves' and RAI. And I also saw a lot of surgery patients. They seemed the happiest of the bunch. Then there are all the others that are hypo. The rate seems VERY high to me. I bet almost half the people I see on a regular basis are hypo. But then...perhaps they just happen to be the type of people I bother to become friends with...long before my diagnosis. Is there a REAL study on this ? -Pam L-
