I have just had a look at the link and am now sat here with tears

rolling down my face.

I might think my boys are pains at time but at least they are alive

and I will cetainly say a prayer in church this morning to thank God

that they are.

My thoughts are with you and your family.

Dear Hannah

I haven't read Elan's story because I'm too fragile at the moment but wanted

to send you {{{hugs}}}. Our niece Rowan died when she was just 10 hours

old.

Oh Hannah, that is so sad. How is your sister now? and the rest of the

family? I seem to think that particular strain of meningitis is

particularly difficult to diagnose so this really could happen to anyone,

ie. I don't think this one has the rash as it's not the bacterial strain.

Is that right Hannah? A boy in DS1's preschool had it last autumn and six

doctors at Frimley Park did not diagnose meningitis, it was only once he was

in a coma at Guys that the tests confirmed that it was. He is still alive,

but brain-damaged and still in hospital I believe. It makes it so difficult

to prevent or look out for, and of course, there's no vaccine for this one.

Thinking of you all today.

Tomorrow would have been my niece's fifth birthday, had she not died from

Meningitis.

Yes, that's right - it's difficult to diagnose and no rash. Elan was taken

to Frimley Park aswell. I saw that little boy's story on the news - his

mother was saying how she wanted to make sure it never happened again - only

it already had at the very same hospital with an even worse outcome :o(

My sister now has a little boy who was two in February as well as her older

daughter who is now ten - there's a picture of them in the new ones I added

to my site recently with my kids. Of course we all miss Elan and wonder

about what she would've been like but you learn to live with it.
