.. Quilting is quite different, for that you

> sew pieces of material onto a base piece, trapping foam in the

middle

> binding/ribbon

Ruth .... FOAM for wadding????!!!! yuk! I use beautiful all cotton

'Hobbs heirloom' and it is a dream to quilt (sew through all the

layers) - it has a wonderfully soft sensous feel to stitch (top and

backing have to be 100% cotton too to sew easily and comfortably) -

it's great when sitting with DS hopefully asleep and DD having her

piano lesson in the winter because the quilt keeps you warm even if

not finished. In an ideal world I'd piece the top together in the

summer (only one cotton layer) and quilt the sandwiched layers in the

colder weather (summer, autumn, winter and spring...)

A nice quilting site is http://www.quiltroom.co.uk

That's where I learnt to quilt at classes in Dorking.

]======causing mayhem but rather elegantly . rather exciting dog

fight next door where they have 8 normal members of the dog household,

then whoever is riding next door seems to leave their dogs, and all

the many puppies-from-Ireland which arrive with the new horses come

and have their holidays too - I've counted 15 one day! now died

down...

(now have found out that Alfie got into next door at it was him being

ripped up!!! off to do some hole in hedge surgery...
