Guest guest
Lou Glad to see you doing so well. As to why you're " getting better " its one very simple word, PAIN. You're not feeling it. The value of that extends far beyond simply not feeling pain as its not just what you feel as the suffering, every part of your body does. When you're in pain, your lungs resist working because working causes pain. Every limb, every part of your body tries to avoid pain. If breathing deeply hurts the lung, what is going to happen? Simply, you'll breathe shallow. I don't know what other meds you're on that might be having any impact (did you end up on a small dosage of Revatio or not?). However, I think the greatest thing for you has been the relief of pain and its a good lesson for all of us. I know many are like myself and really resist pain killers. When I had my VATS, I didn't take any at first. I thought of it just like other surgeries and I wasn't in pain that I couldn't handle. But as it turns out my lung was feeling the pain and I was in a danger zone on the spirometer. So, the doctor explained it to me and I took pain killer. The next time the respiratory tech came in and I used the spirometer I was well out of the danger range. We were both shocked at the difference. So, think of pain killers as accomplishing two duties, lessening pain and increasing function. If by avoiding pain killers you find yourself just sitting on the sofa but in using them you'd be breathing deeply and more active and maintaining muscle strength, which is best for you? > > God Bless each and every one of you today. Guest guest
Lou Referring to how you were feeling before your echocardiogram and before hospice and maybe not pain in the traditional sense but I'm suspecting there was some internal pain more than you know from the hypertension and the effort just moving around from chair to chair and such. The extreme shortage of breath you were having. I may be wrong, but I'm thinking that your body and your organs are feeling the same benefit you are and thats why they are working better just as your mood is uplifted. Maybe resistance is a better word than pain. We try something and its as far as we can go, whether breathing or walking or anything. However, the medication, whether a pain killer or morphine or whatever, eases that resistance. Sometimes we think we are taking deep breaths and we're not. We find that out when we are able to take one. That's the same thing some find out when they use the PFlex. Our bodies are complex and funny machines. > > > > > > God Bless each and every one of you today.
