Isn't there a rule that waiting until you are a little bit older should be allowed (or is that just if you wait and then enter at a higher level). Has anyone done this? > > I haven't done this but I did consider it. My DS's birthday is 7th July (tomorrow(!), and only one week to go to the end of his school year - Private School) When he was in Nursery, I was dismayed to discover that he had to start Reception at the tender age of 4 years 2 months when most of his 'peers' had another year in Nursery to go. I could have let him stay in Nursery for a while longer but then he would have had to join the Reception Class anyway, but later than everyone else. He would then have missed some of his valuable Reception Year. He is just about to turn 7, and has only just caught up, but then he is also Dyslexic which didn't help matters! He is smallest in his class, but is getting on fine - it all evens itself out eventually. Ruth
