Guest guest
>>>> I don't think you're being logical with the TSH theory! I think maybe they have FINALLY noticed that their ranges weren't accurate, and they are FINALLY doing something to remedy the error! <<<< Hi Terry - I agree with you. No, I am NOT being logical. I'm very happy that the TSH " normal range " is being lowered to more realistic values. This will allow for a better quality of life for the hypothyroid patient, as well as taking the pressure off of the hyperthyroid patient--once the doctors learn to accept this, of course. No one with a thyroid disorder should be forced to be miserable because of some meaningless, unrealistic number on a lab sheet. Now we have something in print from a reputable organization to wave under our doctors' noses! This is GREAT news! I would like to think the primary concern of those who are promoting this re-evaluation of the TSH levels would be the best interest of the patient. However, after seeing the glut of greedy, conniving, and deceitful medical professionals in circulation out there, it just naturally occurred to me that ulterior motives are not totally out of the question, that's all. I was half joking, half serious when I said that lowering the TSH scale was to sell more synthroid. We should always be on guard. But regardless of the motive behind these changes, it WILL immensely benefit those of us with thyroid disorders, and for that I am THRILLED!! Also, I'm glad for other changes we are finally seeing. Glad that more and more doctors are realizing that there are at least TWO active thyroid hormones, and BOTH should be taken into consideration in both hyperthyroidism and hypothyroidism. Yet, I'm wondering how long it will take for consideration of the T3 levels to be accepted by the entire medical industry as part of the program. Just for the record, I may seem like the world's biggest doctor- hater, but in my lifetime I have met some of the most compassionate, generous, and selfLESS doctors you could ever imagine. It's just so disappointing that these types of docs are so few and far between. So, when I throw these barbs, please understand that it's not intended to discourage anyone about new discoveries which can bring about hopeful possibilities of improving our lives. It's just that we should never allow ourselves to become easily beguiled by those who may hold our lives in their hands. If we quit questioning everything, we take the chance of falling prey to those upon whom we may depend for our health and well-being. -------------- Regarding your question about the color doppler for ATD dosing - all I have found so far were the links that I posted under that subject. I only discovered this type of testing yesterday. We should definitely look into this, but I don't know where to look first....
