Guest guest
Yes, I am around and yes I am extremely busy with all the kids! Now for Tori, congratulations! Now for my input... You are on 600mgs PTU.. too high for pregnancy. I think the previous posts said, I would strongly recommend you drop down to 450 not 300 yet though, too big of a drop. Hyper is okay as long as it is not too hyper. My endo actually had me in the upper normal range and even slightly hyper with my last pregnancy. I don't exactly understand why the labs are taking so long. My labs were run in a matter of a few days. Now make sure the endo or your ob runs the free T4 and free T3 labs, since the total levels become skewed from added bound proteins (hormones) of pregnancy. They must keep the the free levels in the upper normal to slightly hyper range. TSH is useless during pregnancy, don't let your docs use this as an indicator of your progress. Don't be surprised if your numbers actually spike initially but after about 12-16 weeks they will quickly start to drop. Here stands another point, make sure you get labs drawn every 4-6 weeks. Have the doc put a rush on them as pregnancy itself is urgent enough in having to have your levels in acceptable ranges. Most importantly take care of yourself as the thyroid swings and pregnancy hormones send you in whirlwind of emotions and physical strains. Don't panic just call your docs or write us in the group. If you would like send me an email personally, sometime it's days before I can read all the graves mail. I promise I wouldn't steer you in any wrong direction as I have gone through this two times while on PTU and anything I tell you is exactly what is prescribed by the endos and written in research literature. I am not a doctor , just an experienced mom as well as being a nurse. Just remember everything should be okayed by your docs, both ob and endo. Now sit back and take a breather and enjoy the ride!!
