Guest guest
Sher It would in my opinion make the seal less than perfect. I will compare for a moment to your Gel mask you use for your CPAP. It molds a great deal to the shape of your face and seals pretty tightly. The mask we're talking about doesn't have that kind of Gel sealing ability. So, cannulas, shape of face, and just the material of the mask render getting the perfect seal difficult. But, you can get it very close and a very good seal and then just have to accept thats the best you can do. Maybe it's 98% or something. I do adjust to get the best I can. > > Does anyone know if using O2 canula in nose...would get in the way of a good seal if we start wearing face masks? > Bruce, I think it was you that posted you wear a face mask on occasion. Guest guest
Sher and Bruce, Yes definitely the cannula will interfere with the fit of the mask and the quality of the seal over the nose and mouth. Unfortunately there isn't a thing we can do about it. We have to use the oxygen, no choice about that so that may make the mask somewhat less effective than it would for a non O2 using person. But honestly the reality is that masks are not all the effective to start with. Partly because people don't use them properly and partly because most viruses are too small to filter. It's much better to put our efforts into handwashing, not touching our faces (or doing so as little as possible) and avoiding situations where we put ourselves in contact with large groups of people. Doesn't mean I won't use a mask cause I will but a mask is not the first line of defense, it's a part of the defense, just not the entire defense! Guest guest
MB, I totally agree. A mask will not seal but if we are in an area the flu is... stay in... Washing hands wiping off door handles. etc.One more thing ladies and gents when we go out "carrying" our 02 bags watch where you set them down.. on the floor.. then to your counter or table.. not good if you think about it. When I carried my bag got an S hook and opened it up to fit over the door in a restroom. It was a big relief for me.Take Care of You Group. Guest guest
Sher Well, I don't mind stares....I do mind flu. I wear them to some places already, like the doctor's building. Actually my primary doctor's office has masks on the front desk for patients use but I'm not sure what quality. > > > > Does anyone know if using O2 canula in nose...would get in the way > of a good seal if we start wearing face masks? > > Bruce, I think it was you that posted you wear a face mask on > occasion.
