Guest guest
Hi Red - When I read that you had taken the ibuprofen, it hit me right between the eyes. The swollen mouth is definitely a sign of hives/allergy. My lips swell first, then it goes downhill from there. I had taken ibuprofen - Motrin (in the prescription form, prior to the OTC status) - for years for leg pain from bad circulation. Never ever had a problem with it. Ten years ago, when I developed a some leg clots, I was told to take a the OTC version of Motrin for the pain. The first day there was no problem, but then the second day, I popped a couple of them again (had nothing different that day or the day before as far as other pills or diet, etc) and within about 20 minutes, my lips began to swell, my eyes swelled shut, my throat started closing up, my heartrate went well above 150 BPM, and all the other good stuff that goes along with what they call an ANAPHYLACTIC REACTION, which is referred to as deathly allergic. I have never heard of anyone else being allergic to ibuprofen, in fact, when I list it as my No. ONE allergy, the nurses usually roll their eyes etc. I suggest that you refrain from taking the ibuprofen and see if maybe, just maybe that might have been it. Some drugs (or other things) can be fine for years, and all of a sudden will turn on you. You never know, but at least you know there is one other person out here who is extremely allergic to this particular med. Best of luck to you, Chris > Hi, guys. > Does anyone have experience with allergies?
