Guest guest
July's Which? mag did a review of child car seats. They didn't cover booster seats though - just Group 0, 0+ and 1. Basic summary of the report follows for those interested - hit delete key now if you're not I thought the results were actually very worrying - no seat tested got a high total test score because of the overall general poor crash test performance of all the seats (tho' some were obviously better than others). All seats were given an overall percentage score based on a number of performance and ease of use factors. The highest score was only 47% as, as the report says, " excellent ease of use is no compensation for mediocre crash protection " . Worryingly, one Mothercare seat, the Daytona, scored NIL, because it completely failed the crash test " the dummy in the seat was flung so far forward that its head received what would have been a life-threatening blow " and they show you a frame by frame photo of the crash test - scary. Just so you know, for Group 0+ (birth to 13kg) the best scoring seat was Concord Baboo £80 from Halfords (scored 47%) and for Group 1 (9 to 18kg) the best two best seats were Bebe Confort Iseos £107 from Mothercare (scored 35%) and Britax Renaissance £149, widely available (scored 34%).
