Hi Kathy,

Welcome to the group. Any doctor that's not pushing RAI sounds good. This

means he's keeping up with current treatment options and understands the

autoimmune nature of Graves' disease.

The meds you're on, especially if you're on a beta blocker, like propranolol,

and also an anti-thyroid drug, like PTU or Tapazole, may be too strong for

you if you're tired. You may want to call your doctor's office and talk to

him or her about this. After a week, the drugs merely kick in. You won't

notice their maximum effects for 6-8 weeks. But if you meant that you have

muscle weakness and have had this before you started treatment, you may not

notice improvement for another week or two. And if fatigue and muscle

weakness are your major symptoms, they may be related to all the nutrient

deficiencies caused by hyperthyroidism. I have info on them on my web site.

Take care, Elaine

Hi Kathy. I have a bunch of questions.

How did he determine you have Graves?

While it's impressive that your dr. prefers surgery to RAI (where are

you, BTW?) why doesn't he try ATDs first?

What medication are you on? Beta blockers and/or ATDs? Which ones and

what doses are you on?

Is there any other info you think might be relevant?

Looking forward to commenting,

Take care, Fay
