Guest guest
Jill...where are you?? Are you and hubby doing o.k.?? Is surgery scheduled yet?? We are here for you to scream, vent, cry...whatever you need to do!! Lots of hugs and prayers, Donelle Caregiver to Glenn Colon resection 6/03, open wound for 2 months, chemo for 8 months Mets to Liver found 4/04, inoperable; one tumor too close to portal vein to liver. Chemo infiltration to chest 8/04 with severe side effects including severe pain and muscle damage (permanent??), unable to eat, colon shut down, hospitalization w/morphine 8 days Fluid build-up and draining on a regular weekly basis 11/09/04 on 5FU/Leu/Oxaliplatin/Avastin " cocktails " 46 hr. infusions 02/05 - " Clot " found in vein to liver, probable cause of Ascites (fluid). May be a tumor, but treating as a blood clot right now, with nightly injections for possibly as long as 20 wks. 04/05 -Treatments now scheduled for every 3 wks. b/c Glenns body just can't recoup in 2 wks. Hospitalized May 3, 2005. Glenn was very weak. Blood Pressure low at 80/53. Has fallen twice. Dizziness. Black Stools.... Endoscopy performed on 5/4/05 with a finding of varices (varicose veins) in the esophogus, which had ruptured and were bleeding. Also found irritation in upper stomach that could develop into varices. Given 4 pts. of blood. Considering surgical procedure to put a shunt from the portal vein in the liver to a vein in the chest to transfer fluids from liver and out of body through kidneys. Weekly drainings for fluids in tummy are just taking too many nutrients. TRYING TO KICK BUTT with this darn disease!!!
