Guest guest
Hi Sidney I have tried everything for Gilberts, and I'm not convinced anything really works beyond getting the mercury out. If you have the Amalgam Illness, Andy talks about the various phase two pathways and how to improve them (forget what page). As per his recommendation, I am currently taking: chromium to reduce the insulin resistance inherent in Gilberts (the liver cannot respond quickly enough to rapid glucose increases, nor does it break down insulin quickly enough, so reactive hypoglycemia results) T3 thyroid hormone, to speed up the glucoronidation pathway (T4 won't work. I have also tried the TMG, B12, folinic acid combo to improve methylation. After a few weeks, this worked, and I had a mercury dump. Woke up one morning feeling absolutely horrible, and went straight on round, whereupon my symptoms got better. I assume it was the TMG; I stopped it straight after that and haven't had it again. I think it worked, but was too uncontrolled and powerful for my liver. I prefer controlling mercury detox with DMSA, at a rate that I can handle. This is a really good website about Gilberts, which goes into a lot of detail about the problems involved - gastroparesis, insulin resistance, hypothyroidism, etc etc. It is far from the benign condition doctors erroneously tell us it is. www.gilbertssyndrome.com I have tried other liver supplements, like Liv 52, Livatone, etc etc, and nothing really seemed to make a difference. So, my supplements list looks like this: milk thistle - I take this 3x a day - not sure whether it actually does anything for the Gilberts. Vit C - at least 3gms a day Taurine - 500mg x3 selenium - 200mcg/day fish oil - 3x day Vit B50 - twice a day magnesium citrate - 800mg in four doses calcium citrate - 750mg in three doses chromium drops - about 1gm a day cinammon - to bring down blood sugar Primal Defense and CP-1 probiotics I also take full adrenal support (my adrenals are totally shot), 25mcg T3, and 1 grain Armour. The thyroid dose has taken me nearly two years to perfect - I think I'm close to optimal now. I got up to 3 grains of Armour and felt horrible - all that T4 did me no good at all. I think people with Gilberts (aka a slow liver)do better on T3. think that's it. Hope this helps Sidney. best Nicola > > For those of us who believe we have acquired GS from being mercury > poisoned... What supplements do you take? Sidney > Hello Sidney. I was diagnosed with Gilbert's syndrome 7-8 years ago. The doctors couldn't find a reason why I became yellow and their conclusion was GS. I had always had slight health problems. Only later did I found out I had celiac disease. Do you have GI problems? Greeting Ali

Guest guest
This is a chicken and egg problem. Maybe Hg gives you Gilbert's. There is every reason to believe if you really have the genetic condition Gilbert's syndrome, that would make you far more likely to accumulate mercury than ordinary people. ALA chelation is going to be good for you because it will help excrete glutathione conjugates of a lot of things, and not doing that is the problem in Gilbert's syndrome.
