Guest guest
Hey Guys, Last week, I posted the three visits to the primary to try to get the necessary lab slips for bloodwork to confirm my hypothroid nature. This was necessary because the Nurse practitioner for the endo would not come to the phone and wanted to keep me on .1mg synthroid until at least December. After the third try I took the lab slips (by this time multiple) and filled out what I needed myself. One of the things I ordered was a TSI. Today at the appointed hour I began my two hour vigil in the office of the primary. I had made an appointment to speak to him face to face because I was very tired of his office run around. When I finally saw him he was quite annoyed that my labs didn't have a TSH and wanted to know why. I mentioned incompetence at the lab because I know for sure it was ordered. He told me that all my stuff was " within normal limits " otherwise. This, of course is not true. That pesky TSI was elevated. He patiently explained that it was impossible for him to order cytomel because he had no experience with it. I mentioned that I had one (1) tablet of cytomel left and when that was gone I was sure to crash. He had me give him the list of hypo symptoms I have and then seemed to get very angry at the endo's office for being non-responsive. He said I needed a new endo (duh) and I responded that it was my FOURTH endo and that he, himself had tried to get an appointment for me for over six weeks and was unsucessful. He swore, (yes folks, swore) that he would get me an appontment THIS WEEK at the University with an endo who would take some interest in what I was doing. (Pigs and wings?) He was also convinced that I could go right ahead and have that MRI of the head to visualize the pituitary (checking the adenoma) because it was a different media and should be safe. (so how come it wasn't a few months ago when he refused to order it?) So, even with the new lab values in hand, I have gotten less than nowhere. Its now after six and no call, of course. Tomorrow is friday. My cytomel is gone. The only accomplishment today is that I had another TSH drawn (tsh only) and was instructed to go back to .112 synthroid. He believes that if I have enough T4 everything will be fine. I mentioned 's to him and he just doesn't have the background to deal with it. In the meantime............ T3free 251 230-420 TSI 182 125 or less Thyroglobulin AB Less than 2.0 TPO Less than 2.0 If I read this correctly, and based on the last stuff, my T4 is high, my TSH is high, and my T3 is on the low end. Wouldn't that be consistant with a conversion problem? What is going to happen by tomorrow when and if I hit bottom? The Sept labs were: T4 total 12.0 3.8-12.0 TSH 3.39 .40-5.50 (not!) T4 free 1.3 0.8-1.8 T3 total 137 60-181 It seems like apples and oranges to me. Puzzled as ever, Laurel
