Taking a break to kill the yeast -- good idea?

Hi all,

I can't begin to say how I appreciate this group and Andy's book and

all the help I've gotten these past few months. It's been a

godsend. In trying to come up with my next course of action, I'd

like to run it past you guys for any of your thoughts and feedback:

I've just finished Round 12 of DMSA at 25mg every four hours, 3 days

on, 4 days off. When I started, I felt better on round than off, but

now it's pretty much even. I am 14 months post amalgam removal.

My " dump phase " started in mid-July with yeast, mood and neuropathy

symptoms. DMSA helped enormously with all three of these problems

initially, but the yeast just keeps coming back. I know it's hard to

pin down, but I feel that the dump phase peaked around December, and

if it's a symmetrical bell curve, will end in May. My plan is to

start ALA in May, so that there's no danger of my blood levels being

high and mercury entering my brain instead of leaving it.

My only problem at the moment is that my yeast symptoms seem to be

growing faster than I can manage them. For me, they are easy to

distinguish from mercury symptoms (mercury symptoms have

an " insidious despair " kind of quality, yeast symptoms have an " out

of control hysterical crying " kind of quality). I'm doing a lot to

control the yeast; no sugar diet, aloe vera, caprylic acid,

probiotics, and I just started oregano oil.

Just today, I looked at the files section on neutrophils and yeast

and I finally took in the fact that it's not just mercury that

encourages yeast growth, DMSA does too. I also remember reading that

Andy says that there's no point in putting up with nasty side-effects

from anything except ALA. So I'm thinking, my dump phase is winding

down, I probably don't need the DMSA to stave off the " mercury

despair " . I haven't had neuropathy in I-don't-know-how-long. Why

not just take a break and let the neutrophils bounce back while

helping them along with the stuff I'm doing already. Fight the yeast

for a few months while I'm waiting for the dump phase to peter out?

It even occured to me that in May, I might try ALA alone, esp if it

doesn't encourage yeast growth.

So the things I'm curious about are: How have people done with

taking extended breaks?

Does ALA exacerbate yeast problems like DMSA does?

Has anyone found that stopping DMSA helped fight the yeast?

Thank you for reading and good luck to everyone!
