Guest guest
Hi Holly- Since we are all individuals (that's our gripe right? they try to treat us all the same), you are right. The main thing we'd be concerned about with ATDs is how long they suppress antibody production and, to my knowledge, there is no information about that (which is what we're all worried about right?). All of the information about 1/2 lives is about how long ATDs interfere with thyroid hormone production which is a completely different thing. AND if the 1/2 life of a drug is 6-8 hours, that means that you still have 1/2 of the drug left working in your system. Personally I think, if you can conveniently split the dose every 8 hours that'd be great, but if you can't then the larger dose at night makes great sense. For many busy people, taking doses at inconvenient times will affect compliance (and, yes, health), setting them up for failure. Considering Alyssa's response the last time she went off her ATDs, I'm worried about it happening again considering her TSH, and FT4 levels. I don't know if Alyssa mentioned that to her doctor when she was advised to go off ATDs again. Doctors can only practice medicine efficiently if they're given all the information they need. I think was worried about that aspect mostly. Anyhow, I hope you didn't mean you'd be gone from the list. You give us all valuable insights (plus we like you) and we'd really miss that.
