I'm sure it isn't as simple as it looks but it seems effective. Does it

really go into the heart and liver? They keep mentioning manual pumping which

leads me to believe it comes out somewhere maybe in the abdomen? I can't tell

from the diagram but I'm sure you'll find out at his physical.

I hope and pray this has the desired effect and that he will soon be on the

road to recovery

Supposedly it goes from the portal vein in the liver to a heart vein, so the

blood does not pass through the liver or get backed up there, which is what

is causing the ascites. I'm calling dr. tomorrow b/c we never heard

anything about manual pumping....??? I know there are many shunts, with many

purposes... I'll let y'all know...as soon as I find out...LOL
